In 2004, he launched his own club night ‘Break Da House’ in Bournemouth, UK. It blended breaks, electro, house, funk and eclectic beats. Over the 5 years it ran lots of big named artists graced it’s decks and led to him performing alongside the likes of Stanton Warriors, Basement Jaxx & Dub Pistols. The latter meeting led to his first release on Barry Ashworth of Dub Pistols & Carl Loben DJ Mag editors label Westway Records in 2006. In fact DJ Mag called him ‘one of the technically gifted DJ in UK’ when the record was release. Soon after this he founded his first label Upstart Music. After moving to Sydney in 2009 he co-created the award-winning label funk led label Grits N Gravy with Philly Blunt from Perth, WA.
In Sydney D-Funk has held residencies at top venues including The World Bar, The Standard/Middle Bar, Hugos, Ivy, Goros, The Clock and played for major brands like American Express, Ted X, Sydney Cricket Ground and Universal Music. He continues to tour globally, having played in both Asia & Canada on multiple occasions & returns to Europe for high-profile gigs at venues such as Hi, Ibiza which has consistently been voted ‘worlds best club’ by DJ Mag. Now, he’s celebrating a decade of Grits N Gravy with a special compilation and producing fresh sounds in house, hip-hop, and nu-disco alongside studio partner Mr Doris.
With an evolving sound influenced by both Australia’s vibrant music scene & his Uk roots, D-Funk’s releases on labels such as Jalapeno Records, Centrl Music & BombStrikes showcase his versatility and passion for funk, disco, house & hip-hop.
